Eighth Annual Progressive Dinner December Cancelled
1. Your Voice Will Be Heard and Represented Neighborhood input is our priority. When an OCNA member brings an issue to our local neighborhood meeting, members vote to bring the issue before the City of Oceanside as a group influencing the Council and Commission votes!
2. Help Shape the Future of Our Community
Important issues affect our neighborhood character. For example, major downtown building projects, the Coast Highway corridor and the redevelopment zone. Your paid membership will help us create appropriate growth in our community.
3. You’ll Have Fun Meet your neighbors and enjoy our many social activities, like the Annual Native Plant Garden Tour, Beach BBQ’s, Fourth of July Parade Float, Dinners, and more! The Oceanside Coastal Neighborhood Association (OCNA) was formed in 2003 to enhance the quality and preserve the characteristics unique to our neighborhood. OCNA has a vision of creating a social fabric promoting true community in which neighbor helps neighbor and neighbors get to know and enjoy one another.
OCNA is committed to giving neighbors a collective voice, thereby holding elected officials accountable. Traffic safety, code enforcement, street repair, adequate lighting, redevelopment, development and public safety (more police) are just a few crucial issues a strong neighborhood association can affect for the better. The OCNA is a not-for profit corporation formed to pass on the benefits of building a better community for all, here and now and for future generations to enjoy. Membership is open to any resident, business or home owner living within the OCNA neighborhood boundaries. Our boundaries are from the I-5 to the ocean and from Oceanside Blvd. to Mission Ave. Membership is $36.00 per year which pays for legal fees, website formation and monthly web fees, phone and postal address, social events, meeting hall space when applicable, accountant fees for non-profit organization mandatory audits, and to sponsor a newsletter. We are a volunteer organization; no person receives a salary or makes a profit from the existence of our neighborhood organization. The board of directors and our many committees exist to serve the community. Please check out our informative links. The OCNA website is a work in progress and new information is added on a regular basis. If you wish to be a volunteer please call 760-494-4342. OCNA is a true neighborhood association, NOT a homeowners association. We do not make rules for the neighborhood as homeowner associations do. The OCNA members vote to tell the board of director what they want done for our community. The OCNA city council committee meets with city council members and the city manager to express the desires and needs of our membership. We have built a good, professional, working relationship with our city leaders. OCNA supports issues important to our neighborhood, we do not support political candidates as this is a violation of the rules for a non- profit organization. OCNA meetings are open to the public, if you are not a member you are always welcome to share our meetings with us. We meet the 3rd Tuesday of every month at St. Mary's School on Wisconsin, 7:00 pm sharp. Oceanside Coastal Neighborhood Association Oceanside, CA 760-494-4342 Contact OCNA Look for us on Facebook! |
